Be a Temporary Grandson! Pass Down Elders’ Know-how

大寮區位於高雄市東南方，擁有豐沃的農產品（如：紅豆），中興里人口結構以閩南和榮眷居多，在地文化濃厚。

家有一老如有一寶，每位長輩身上都有不同的生命經歷，篇篇值得年輕一代來「閱讀」，且中興社區的長輩人人都具備好技藝，等你來挖掘與傳承喔！

在大寮微孝營中，我們設計了許多有趣的活動，希望可以讓青年志工看到長者的智慧與活力。透過臨時孫子的陪伴關懷，不但可以讓長輩感到心暖暖，也讓青年志工從中學習助老的精神，增加了代間互動的機會。

Daliao is located in the south of Kaohsiung City,in the south of Taiwan.It is next to Pingtung city. Daliao is rich in vegetables such as adzuki bean (Taiwanese also call it “lovesickness bean”), soybean and cabbage. The output of adzuki bean is 90% in Kaohsiung, and there are many desserts made from it. For the people like snacks, this is definitely a heaven. Jhongsing Village we live in has multi cultures, the residents include mainland Chinese and Taiwanese, and you can see military housing and historical temples in Jhongsing village.

“An oldster at home as treasure your own”, every elder has his/her own “life story” and is worth to be ”studied” deeply. We believe elders have a lots skills and know-how, and they are waiting for you to find out and pass down!

In Daliao International Workcamp, many interesting actions are designed to interact with the locals and the international workcampers, and we believe volunteers will see these elders’ wisdom and vitality. Through temporary grandsons’ accompany, not only elders will feel warmer, but also volunteers will learn how to respect, help and love elders.

 If you are interested in Taiwanese traditional cultures, Daliao International Workcamp is definitely your best choice, and you can’t miss it.

工作內容

一、社區服務：由青年志工組成關懷特攻隊，在營隊期間透過到宅訪視陪伴關懷、慶祝父親節與七夕情人節的方式關懷在地長輩。也將發揮創意做圍牆彩繪，讓社區充滿國際色彩。

二、在地融入：瞭解臺灣農曆七月鬼月文化，陪伴在地長輩並挖掘他們的記憶與技藝，品嚐在地特產(紅豆)的好料理。

三、國際交流：製作臺灣古早味紅龜粿，異國料理創作。

 Work Content

1. Community Service: volunteers concern with local elders, celebrate Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day. You will have chance to paint on the wall to beauty the community.
2. Local Experience: experience Taiwanese “Ghost Festival”, make friends with local elders and find out their skills and know-how,taste delicious dessert.
3. Cultural Exchange: you will learn how to make multi-culture foods by the locals and your foreigner partners.
